We are a year-round swimming program in North Dallas. As a bronze club member of USA Swimming, our coaches and volunteers have a proven track record, and are committed to helping each of our athletes accomplish the goals they set for themselves.

Our athletes compete in local events appropriate for their age and ability level, as well as regional and national championship events.

Our Philosophy

The COR program is designed to accommodate swimmers of all ability levels to insure that each swimmer will be able to realize as much daily success as possible. Our goal is to make it possible for every swimmer to realize his or her maximum potential. It is our belief that everyone can derive benefits from the sport of swimming.

COR History

COR is a USA Swim Club, governed by USA Swimming. Our local swim association is North Texas Swimming, Inc. Our official charter name is COR Swimming Association. Our swim club code is COR. Our user name “nickname” is City of Richardson Swim Team.


Competitive swimming in Richardson began in 1961, under the direction of Neil Matzen, as a member of the local summer swim league. In 1972, Cottonwood pool was winterized and year-round swimming began. The City of Richardson swim team became more competitive and joined the AAU. The team grew and became more active in the Texas swimming scene, but was in need of an indoor practice facility. Club members were instrumental in getting a bond passed and in 1980, two 6 lane 25 meter pools at Berkner and Pearce High Schools were open. COR was able to expand staff and the team quickly grew. Since then, it has produced many outstanding swimmers at the local, state and national and international level. After over 30 years of year round swimming, it is a team rich in history and tradition and prides itself on being a team with a sense of family. COR now draws swimmers from not only Richardson, but many surrounding areas.

Join the excitement by becoming a member of the COR Swim Team. Evaluations to see if you are ready for the age group swimming program are available by appointment. Previous team experience is not required; the evaluation is designed to make sure new participants are properly placed into practice groups.
